Rheem has introduced 5.3- and 7.4-gallon-per-minute, direct-vent tankless water heaters to its line,
with features that include EZ-Link technology (for quick installs), Guardian SBT (technology that monitors the gas-air mixture),
Guardian OFW (film wrap to protect against overheating), and high-altitude options.
These high-efficiency water heaters deliver a continuous supply of hot water on demand,
without the need of a large storage tank. The direct-vent models help improve indoor air quality (IAQ)
by bringing combustion air in from outside the home. The EZ-Link system makes it possible to connect
two tankless units side by side with a communication cable, so they can operate as a single water
heater and provide hot water for up to six bathrooms. With an energy factor greater than .80,
they also qualify for a federal income tax credit of up to $300.
